Another great magician
felled on feldspar
by saltpeter, sulfur, lead.
Fire abounds us
solutes to our causes.
And this young guinea
-red and plump-
she's all chemical saturation
-ready to birth her flame-
saw it all coming last
Christmas Day.
some shame never came.
